JUNEAU EMPIRE
JUNEAU – The Juneau Police Department is reporting that a fatal car accident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. today that killed a recent Juneau-Douglas High School graduate.
The vehicle was traveling on Glacier Highway near Mile 37 at “excessive speeds,” went out of control and off the side of the road, according to a police press release. The driver and passenger were thrown from the vehicle; a second passenger wearing a seatbelt was not.
Taylor White, 18, died at the scene.
The driver, another 18-year-old male, was medevaced with serious injuries. The seatbelted passenger, a 17-year-old girl, was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital with “reportedly minor injuries,” according to the release.
The highway is closed as investigators continue to work the scene. Alcohol may have been a factor in the accident, police said.
