ANCHORAGE – The Army Corps of Engineers in Alaska is in line for $49.7 million in projects from federal stimulus money.
The office of Sen. Mark Begich says the funding is part of $4.6 billion appropriated to the Corps for its civil works program.
The Alaska money is in three areas, including $31.7 million for operations and maintenance, $16 million for construction and $1.8 million for investigations.
The work will pay for port upgrades, including $23.4 million for dredging the Port of Anchorage.
Other major construction includes $7 million for the first phase of a small boat harbor in Akutan and $4.5 million for the completion of a project in the Seward Harbor.
