ANCHORAGE – Alaska lawmakers are talking again about building a new legislative office building in Anchorage.
The Anchorage Daily News reports a panel of state senators and representatives is meeting Tuesday to discuss the idea. The proposal was dropped last year because the cost doubled to $86 million and Juneau legislators were concerned that it could be an attempt to move the capital.
The existing Anchorage legislative office building is a center of activity when lawmakers aren’t in Juneau during the 90 days of the annual regular session. Anchorage and Mat-Su Valley legislators have offices there, as do several others from around the state.

so what would the price tag be today or next year?
I think the money could be used for something better and that the legislators should make do with what they already have in Anchorage.
Especially with today’s technology, there really is no need for everyone to have their own private office; I share an office now with four people. When I worked for the State our whole floor was one big office with 60+ people, we used partitions to divide space up, the legislators can do it to and save money.

Well Mr. Governor, The ball is in your court! Do you veto this attempt and show what a friend you can be to Juneau and the State’s coffers? OR, do you do a Palin and say “It’s NOT up to me”

Ugh again the state pay their top dogs for everything including travel. Just another move to move the capital to Anchorage. What a sad day when we see our leaders take moves like this…….
Mr Governor say it isn’t so. Like IFM says share your space if you want to work outside the capital, if you want your own office come to Juneau.
