FAIRBANKS – State officials say efforts to spur construction of a large natural gas pipeline are on schedule despite skepticism from some lawmakers.
The plan pitched by former Gov. Sarah Palin under the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act is projected to have drawn $150 million in investments from the team of TransCanada and Exxon Mobil.
At a public meeting in Fairbanks, Revenue Commissioner Pat Galvin said the basic goal of the act is to spark momentum toward the construction of such a line. Galvin says that’s been achieved “in spades.”
