Little League embezzler pleads guilty

Arlene K. Moe
JUNEAU EMPIRE
Arlene K. Moe pleaded guilty today to one felony theft charge for embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from Gastineau Channel Little League from August 2007 to September 2008.
Moe, who moved to Anchorage shortly after her indictment in June, was accused by police of writing checks to herself worth $40,660.33 on 57 occasions while acting as the Little League’s treasurer.
Moe’s sentencing is pending, though the class C felony has a maximum sentence of five years and a presumptive sentence of zero to two. The court also ordered her to pay restitution, though the final figure has yet to be determined. Moe indicated she may dispute the police’s final tally — which may also affect her plea come sentencing.

How low can you go?? She should not have been permitted to move to Anchorage after she was indicted. The judges have been so lenient on criminals, wonder what she’ll actually have to pay back and if she’ll serve time; instead of some stupid house arrest. Like that Nelson guy who was convicted of pirating movies/music and was sentenced to house arrest. HAH. I’ve seen him out and about more than once. Our laws don’t punish criminals befitting the crimes. But as long as there are lawyers, there will ALWAYS be criminals.
