Ex-cop to get time served for sexual abuse

ANCHORAGE – A former Anchorage police officer will not spend any more time in jail for sexually abusing and exploiting his daughter.
Sammy Cohen was sentenced Thursday by Superior Court Judge Michael Wolverton to 12 years in prison with eight years suspended. That means Cohen will not spend any more time in jail because of the length he’s already served.
Cohen was arrested five years ago on charges that he sexually abused his daughter and possessed child pornography. He was investigated after a federal agency alerted authorities that he had purchased child porn on the Internet.
The jury acquitted Cohen of several charges, and he maintains his innocence.
Cohen was convicted of taking nude photographs of the girl, who was 14 years old at the time. She now is an adult and lives out of state.
