SEATTLE – Seattle Children’s Hospital has long-range plans to double in size to hold as many as 600 patients.
A Seattle hearing examiner is hearing about the plans this week as well as concerns from neighbors about traffic in the Laurelhurst neighborhood.
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports the growth proposal will eventually go before the Seattle City Council.
Children’s serves as the pediatric referral center for Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho.

I think its great, Alaska needs more places to bring our sick children for better care. Juneau doctors can only do so much, or earn the trust of parents.

I think it’s great.. The Dr’s and staff are amazing there. They saved my daughter’s life when life flighted down in critical condition with a massive brain tumor. And are treating my other daughter now for Cancer… again because of them she will be ok too. (since the Drs here missed the Brian tumor for 4 years and swore my other daughter didn’t have cancer)

Another VERY IMPORTANT reason to take care of your children outside…after 9 ultrasounds, we were told the pregnancy was normal, all parts were there, then all of a sudden we were notified I needed an EMERGENCY C SECTION at 2:30pm – needless to say, the C Section did not take place until 10:30pm of which my daughter could have died. She was born with dual hip displasia & right knee dislocation (leg was purple) Low on fluid my whole pregnancy (notified one time during pregnancy) was told I could fly at 7 months, started bleeding 2 days prior to the flight, My husband and daughter were medivaced to Seattle. Doctors in Juneau didn’t know what to do…don’t get me wrong, Juneau is a Beautiful Place…I wouldn’t trust the medical much, when I lived there I felt like a Guinea Pig…pills, pills and more pills!

I am very happy to say, if you need an Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Vincent Mosca from Childrens Hospital in Seattle is the best on the West Coast! Without him, my daughter would not be walking today, she would be in a wheelchair with her right leg perpendicular to body as no one in Juneau is capable of doing what Children’s Hospital is!

A very positive development.

I have to say that there are plenty of good Doctor’e here in Juneau you just need to open your eyes. I have a daughter with significant medical problems and in the last 2 years she has had 5 major surgeries at children’s and they have the top of the line. (I also take my son there) Alls I am saying is there is good doctor’s here, we just need to be thankful for what we have right in front of us…..I also know there is some that just seem to miss things…..
