How many unimportant things did she lie about in that resignation speech? Why does she still insist that blogger who superimposed a conservative talk show host’s face over Trigg’s was somehow making fun of Trigg? Does she expect us to believe that all her kids voted on her “making a difference from outside the gov’s mansion” even Trigg? Really, he voted even though he can’t talk? Did she really resign because she didn’t want to waste money on frivolous travel? Even though she referenced her trip to Kosovo in her rambling speech?

Great news for the State. Maybe now the Alaska can get some qualified politicians to step in a start cleaning up all the messes that will surely be left behind. It would be nice to see a politician look out for the interest of the people that voted them into office instead of looking for the next big book deal or TV appearance. I wish Sean Parnell lots of luck, at least he doesn’t have very big high heels to fill.

I haven’t been here long enough to know the whole story, but I do know this, believe it is better to have someone in office that’s going to focus on the affairs of the state, and not use the office as a springboard to something higher while neglecting the duties of said office.

Though I am not in favor of Palin’s politics and did not vote for her, I am disappointing that she choose not to finish out her term and honor her 4-year commitment. I think it reflects badly on the state to have a governor quit in the middle of a term.

She’s incapable of telling the truth (always has been). There’s more to this resignation than her bizarre explanations- maybe a lucrative talk show on Fox, maybe being able to get out of Alaska and spend more time with her adoring fans, maybe even an attempt to defuse a scandal about to blow up. The resignation mid term was a surprise. I did not think she would seek a second term and though she would face a Primary challenge. I don’t engage in speculation and my sense tells me there is more to this story then we currently know.

I did not see being Governor of the State a difficult or challenging job and her failings soon became apparent when she was thrust on to the National Stage. Senator McCain has too much pride and manners not to admit he made a mistake, but he knows he did. Those who are taken by the charm and appeal of Governor Palin are small in numbers and the GOP professional operatives know she had no future. The state of affairs within the GOP is so bad that many have kept their feelings private, but the recent release of the campaign emails speak volumes.

I hope there is no health issue behind Governor Palin’s resignation and hopefully if not she will become well paid eye candy on the speaking tour or on Fox. IMO she does the Republican Party more harm than good but if her objective is to make money, good luck to her. Politics is clearly outside of her field of expertise and of course she could just focus on being a mother to a family that evidently needs her, something you did not hear today, something that also says a lot.

I don’t think anyone expected her resignation today, but can you blame her? From the Letterman comment to the countless false ethics complaints around every corner, I’m surprised she didn’t quit earlier.

During and after the campaign for Palin, Democrats must have felt scared or something with the number of complaints and the constant bashing over her and her family. Palin made decisions that many people disliked (Ranging from not living in Juneau, favoring Anchorage and central Alaska over us here in the Southeast, favoring business over the environment in more than a few cases). But by favoring business, she helped create jobs, she broke the mold that previous Republicans loved, she sold the infamous jet of Frank and got projects rolling for Alaskans and help the average Joe out not the tree hugger or the executive.

If she runs in 2012, she has my vote and I know many others who support her beliefs and will vote for her as well, even more so after Obama seems to have fell from grace. I’m sure others saw his speech about the stimulus doing it’s job. Can anyone say “Mission Accomplished”?

I wonder how the socialist hate-mongers will spin that. I know its Christian to “love thy enemy” but isn’t that going a bit far? Impeach “the anointed one”, he is torture. 36. What a relief Says:

Greetings from New York. So, she resigned. While I watched this rambling diatribe, I was having a difficult time trying to figure out what the hell she was talking about. I also wondered if it’s some kind of Alaskan custom to drink 10 to 12 pots of coffee before a press conference. However, once she said she was quitting, I finally caught it. I did notice that no one there screamed, fainted or anything else. They were probably like me and the rest of America, sitting there saying “What the hell is this woman talking about???” I have no doubt that tonight, Alaskans are breathing a collective sigh of relief.

This woman single-handedly destroyed any chance of John McCain being elected President. Now as a supporter of Obama, this is my preferred outcome. However, I still honestly feel sorry for McCain because I do believe he is a good man. With her press interviews, she clearly showed how intelligent she isn’t. Remember the sneak-attack question from Katie Couric? She asked her what magazines she read, and she stood there stuttering. Unbelieveable!

I have no doubt that in the near future with the help of the press and leaks, we will all find out why the “pit bull with lipstick” that would never quit has suddenly quit. I mean seriously, if my kids told me “Hell yeah, quit!”, that would tell me I raised quitters, and I would be ashamed of my failure. I have always taught my kids that if you start something, you follow through! She is setting one hell of an example for the young people in Alaska who look up to her.

I suppose she would be a great cheerleader for the Republicans. I have to admit, she is a nice looking woman. I found her attractive when I first saw her, then she spoke. My God. What the hell is it with the winks and the you betcha? I don’t want to betcha, I want you to go away! You have ruined a potential Presidency with your divisive ways, and you have fractured an entire political party. Now, for that, THANK YOU.

Now, about Trig. I do give her tremendous credit as far as he goes. I’m a parent to a special needs adult, and I know how difficult it has been over the past 30 years. On that subject, I have nothing but heartfelt respect for her.

I’m just glad she’s gone. I wish her well in her future endeavours, but I truly hope those endeavours do not involve political office. After all, she has shown Alaska and the rest of America just how good she is at following through. I guess your great endurance just ran out, huh?

I am thrilled for our state that we have finally got an end date to the tenure of this self serving, ill educated and ill qualified Governor. She has devastated the reputation of our fine state, she has failed to meet the duties of her office, she has misused public funds and power. The state will be in much better shape without her. Sean Parnell has been running our state since Palin assumed office anyway due to inappropriate levels of travel and absence. Ms. Palin should reimburse the state for the expenses that she racked up for failing to live in Juneau, for failing to pay her family’s own way on travel they were not required to attend and for the unbelievable per diem expenses she thougth due to her !!!!
I am leaving the state and relocating south after almost 20 yrs as an Alaska resident. I find myself wondering alot lately if a more qualified governor’s leadership would have improved the economic environment enough to allow me to afford to live in the state that I have loved and called home for all of my adult life…I simply cannot afford to live here any longer. Palin’s constant efforts to dismantle the capital from Juneau and relocate it to Anchorage have only served to devastate a local economy, the housing market and an employment base that sustained me for years. All the while, Ms. Palin and her children were growing fat and happy on the public dollar, one that I worked my ever loving @$$ off to fund !!!! She should be ashamed of the devastation, the mistrust and the absolute malpractice that she has engaged in during her short stint as our governor. No other governor has come into office so unqualified and cost the state so much.
Palin’s political agenda will suffer greatly as the public considers her failures which include lack of experience, lack of committment, misuse of power and money and inability to complete any basic task she has begun (and she has begun precious little !!!) Good riddance to this lame duck, no account, hockey mom loser. We will do well without her !!!!

She should take a page from wheel of fortune Vanna White – Vanna is the best doggone letter turner in history – she knows her job, she takes the money, she smiles and she has had a great career. If Sarah wants to be a point guard – its not too late for her to go back to college – maybe U of Conn – they have a great Womens BBall team, and she might have to take some courses and maybe maybe she might pick up some EDUCATION! You are all just too busy adding that second layer of bumper stickers to your Subarus, and adjusting the Home for Peace signs in your windows, to notice the rise in beheadings, oppression of women, murder of children and Big Hate in this world. I imagine that this is the tip of the iceberg. That “hell, yeah” comment from one of her children leads me to believe that the question she asked was not “should I resign and run for president?” but “should I resign and just leave politics altogether?” THAT second question, I imagine, would get a response from a child of “hell yeah.”

But, there was an interesting article on some websites the other day. The media has requested emails from the Palin administration for some time. And the head of the state agency responsible for the release of the emails has delayed and delayed and delayed. I wonder if the individual was protecting the Gov. and if he just could not delay their release any longer.

Additionally, if you are going to resign, wouldn’t you want a speech that was fluid and coherent? Her speech was horrendous.

Weird that she went after President Obama in the campaign for not having any experience and now she is quitting before she even finishes her first term. I have news for Ms. Palin: being a small-town mayor and a “half-term” governor, does not prepare you for the job.

I don’t think it would have sat well with the public that a sitting governor was playing shenanigans with a single father’s shared custody rights over his son. The Palins, all of them, needed to slither into a dark cave to devise a plan how to block Levi from being in his son’s life. If I’m a betting person, I bet this has something to do with to gov’s sudden departure. A family vote and decision? Hummmmmm.

It proves that for her, political ambition is not a destination for service but a journey for narcissism. The question is, if her goal now is to be President of the United States, how long would she stay in that office before she quits in a huff, and to what higher position would she then be aspiring to?

Does Sarah Palin have a steady hand on the tiller of the Ship of State, or is she a loose cannon, crashing about the deck and creating havoc and instability. Is there any doubt about which is the correct answer?

From her word salad resignation speech, it is difficult to know her true reason for quitting. With her $600,000 legal fees, she could bring in multi- million dollar book deals and be a talk show host. She can then use some of her millions to benefit special needs children, and fund raise for the conservative party. Plus, she can buy all the clothes she wants, dress up, smile, wave, wink, and be a celebrity… her true calling.

Glad she’s not Governor, and hope she stays out of politics, as far as elected positions. Although, I feel she is going to re-invent herself in some way. Hopefully, she will get a thick skin, because there will still be gaffes.

    @hatters not welcome

I’ll take off my hat again to respond to your post by quoting more New Testament verses from the same chapter:

“Jesus returned to the Mount of Olives, 2 but early the next morning he was back again at the Temple. A crowd soon gathered, and he sat down and taught them. 3 As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd.
4 ‘Teacher,’ they said to Jesus, ‘this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?’
6 They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. 7 They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, ‘All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!’ 8 Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust.
9 When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. 10 Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, ‘Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?’
11 ‘No, Lord,’ she said. And Jesus said, ‘Neither do I. Go and sin no more.’”

So, dear hatter, my read on this is that the final sentence is the operative one, the directive to “go.”

And the sooner, the better. And she should perhaps put down those stones she’s been carrying around because she herself is probably about as pure as the driven slush.

And anyone who doesn’t agree with their concept of family values, pentacostal creationism, repudiation of science, nationalistic militarism, self righteous, and narrow minded points of view will ultimately be subjugated by God in the end of days to subscribe to their political doctrines. Remember how Palin attacked Obama for not having “executive” experience? Well, how is she–as a half-term Governor–going to even be able to talk about EXPERIENCE while running against the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES?

Don’t be so sure that Palin is loved down here in the “lower 48,” because she is not. In my opinion, she sank the ticket. Many Americans did not feel comfortable with her being a heart beat away from the Presidency. Even now, more than ever especially since she quit 2.5 years into a term. Had she won, would she be resigning now? Her whole idiocy about “dead fish go with the flow/lame duckness” does not make a load of sense. So, would she resign as a second term president (I just shudder thinking of the prospect of her AS president.)

It was actually U S Marine Major General Oliver Smith who said something like: “Retreat? Hell, we’re attacking in another direction”, this after glamorpuss MacArthur and his sycophant Ned Almond hung Smith and his 1st Marines out at the Chosin Reservoir. The remark is considered apocryphal, the sentiment is attributed to O P Smith.

The year 2008 saw quite the extreme in the breath and depth of knowledge, intellect, experience and grasp of the issues facing the United States than the two major female players…Hillary Rodham Clinton and Sarah Palin.
Hillary Rodham Clinton was eminently qualified to run for president, and there are now more than 18,000,000 cracks in that glass ceiling for yet another female candidate on the national level.
On the opposite side of the coin, we have Sarah Palin.
A future female candidate will have to walk a delicate tight rope as to not to become too much like either candidate, both, your readers will agree have been lightning rods for criticism. Without a doubt, Hillary for being too intelligent, and Ms. Palin for her sheer ineptitude and being placed in the national spotlight, when, undoubtedly, she was not ready to be a prime time player.
A future female candidate must be able to broaden her ideals and reach out to all segments of the population. First and foremost, a future female candidate should not be perceived as the token candidate of her gender, but, clearly, someone who can not only play with the big boys, but also win.
In our lifetime, we have now seen the token gesture of Maine’s Senator Margaret Chase Smith’s name placed in nomination by the Republican National Convention in 1964. Mrs. Smith was the first woman elected to the US Senate in her own right, and the first to be elected to both the US House of Representatives and to the US Senate.
We have seen the courageous effort of Shirley Chisholm in 1972, who not only spoke on behalf of her gender but also her race.
We have seen the historic nomination of Geraldine Ferraro, in 1984, as the first woman ever nominated by either major party for national office. A brief, but shining moment that was, ultimately overshadowed by the Reagan landslide that November.
And, we have just come through the historic election of 2008.
Women candidates on the local and state levels are no longer a novelty. It is time for women candidates to be recognized and to be heard on the national stage.
As much as I sincerely wanted Hillary Rodham Clinton to shatter that glass ceiling, I am equally glad that Barack Obama was able to do so as the first African-American president.
The recipe is there, and for those who can stand the heat in the kitchen, opportunity awaits.

It doesn’t matter who was here first because no one really knows who was here first except that we all are natives to the earth. All of our ancestors danced around campfires.
Please people give it a rest. Support the people you voted for and if you can’t, be quiet. Funny thing is… no matter what Sarah Palin does she will make a lot of money just being herself, because there is enough ignorant people who will support her. Meaning their are those who like her down homey ness, her folksy ways, and her you betchas. Personally she is pretty scarey…she has no problem teaching her children to hunt and kill animals, which is fine by me, but they are not allowed to read or watch movies with anything about magic because it is evil. She got people so upset during the campaign they wanted to kill Obama. She believes homosexuals are just sick and can be cured.
I have faith in the majority of Americans, that they will be intelligent enough to pay attention and not vote her into anymore public offices. Seperation of church and state…there is a hugh reason for this in our constitution. When that is violated, then we are all so very screwed. Sarah please stay home and care for your husband and children and leave us alone.

She’s free to resign, but it seems like it’s going to cause even more legal problems for her, if that’s what she’s trying to avoid. It’s really sad when someone has to constantly create turmoil so they can be the center of attention. If she didn’t want everyone going after her for ethics issues, then she shouldn’t have gone after people for ethics issues. Apparently she was elected for her looks. Even good-looking people need to be accountable for their actions, though. She would have gotten more respect if she had used her time to get the education she needed and didn’t get mad and quit. As responsible citizens and voters, we not only have the RIGHT, but also the CIVIC DUTY and RESPONSIBILITY to point out AND judge AND complain AND criticize irresponsible, selfish, vitriolic behavior on the part our elected officials, especially when they shirk their civic duty. And there has been little else put forward by Palin. Political ilk such as Palin put themselves in the position of being targets for backlash from the citizenry by running for office. When they flout their families as extensions of themselves and their so-called values, they also put their families squarely in the center of that firestorm as well. I honestly couldn’t care less about “citizen” Sarah Palin, but I reserve all rights to criticize politician and Governor Sarah Palin (and her family when they are being used as her political pawns). That right is granted to every citizen by the First Amendment. The betrayed citizenry of Alaska (regardless of whether they are among those duped into voting for her or not) are not who deserves the criticism. Those just deserts fall solely on poor, professional-victim, Governor Palin.

“seperation of church and state” appears no where in the United States Constitution. Maybe you are referring to the 1st Ammendment whereby “congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion”. This has been misinterpretted with the ongoing liberal mantra “seperation of church and state” so they can justify discarding many Levitical laws which are the foundation of our country’s common law. What it really states is the government will not become one with the church which was the oppression many were escaping in the case of the Church of England.

And you all have to admit NO ONE ever in history has ever had the same scrutiny on their family as hers. TImes are changing and you all seem content to let it.

What happened to common decency and curteousy? What happened to respecting your fellow man and woman? You think Cooper and HIckle and all the other governors were less proud of their state or as honest?

You seriously need to look within yourselves and determine why it is that you so gallantly seek to have this woman’s private life and public office destroyed just for some small differences of opinion. God help us all. You might want to try showing decency and respect to one another in this life. You might even find it coming back to you.

It was never “the liberals” attacking Ms. Palin. It was never “the media elite” attacking Ms. Palin. It was Ms. Palin’s own words and actions that brought her down. There wasn’t any way that her tenure in office could be spun as a success or that the McCain-Palin ticket would’ve won that election. She failed on the merits. If conservatives actually believed in “personal responsibility”(other than as a cool phrase to insult welfare mothers with)you guys would admit that. like I put on the cnn blog, it was the right thing for Sarah Palin to do. She has been a missing in action governor the whole time she came into office. The capital is in Juneau and she had run the office from Wasilla and Anchorage. She has let all Alaskans down by letting the legislatures conduct business as usual without her. She only cared about all the lime light that she so much thrives on. She forgot the most important job she got sworn in for and that was to do all that she can do for the State of Alaska as our Governor. I also am curious about all the monies she collected for have her office out of Juneau. It is hard to hear her says its all about Alaska when she has costed us more monies then any governor. I just hope and pray that she does not run for President, we have already had to much drama in our lives since she has been in office as our Governor for the State of Alaska. We had the re-raising of the flag at the Juneau/Douglas city museum celebrating our 50 year statehood on the 4th of July 09 without her she did not even reply to her invitation to partisipate. Whats up with that. She has never done anything for Southeast Alaska. When it is all about you instead of the people you swore to help as Governor than you are in the wrong business. You need to do all that talk shows and things like that, that is more up your line. Leave the politics to the folks that want to make a difference.
